Jon Costello
President and Founder of CSG
Jon Costello is the founder and President of Capitol Strategy Group (CSG). With nearly two decades of experience consulting for businesses, interest groups, governments, non-profits, and political campaigns, he founded CSG to provide tailored, white glove, services to organizations seeking to grow their business, influence policy, or secure appropriations in Florida.
Jon began his government career in 2003 as an Acquisition Program Manager with the U.S. Department of Defense. After three years in federal service, he transitioned to the private sector, joining a prominent Tallahassee law and lobbying firm, where he honed his consulting skills working with clients across multiple industries.
In 2010, Jon played a pivotal role as Senior Policy Advisor for Rick Scott’s successful gubernatorial campaign. Following the victory, he was appointed to Governor Scott’s transition team and later served as the Governor’s Legislative Affairs Director. During this tenure, Jon was instrumental in advancing the Governor’s legislative priorities, which included securing $1 billion in increased K-12 funding, establishing the Department of Economic Opportunity, and implementing major reforms in reemployment assistance, workforce board accountability, and personal injury protection.
In 2012, Jon returned to the private sector, leveraging his extensive policy, procurement, and business experience to help clients formulate and execute winning strategies to achieve their business objectives. In January 2020, he founded Capitol Strategy Group to focus strictly on providing clients with expert government affairs, SLED sales, strategic communications, policy analysis, and business development services.
Jon has served as a gubernatorially appointed member of the Governing Board for the Northwest Florida Water Management District and Adjunct Professor of Political Communication at Florida State University.
He holds a B.S. in Political Science and an M.S. in American Politics and Policy from Florida State University.
Jon lives steps from the Capitol in downtown Tallahassee with his wife, Jessica, and three sons, Jack, Dillon and William.
